How to Read the Heatmap

Demand Axis

This represents the "Search Volume." High demand means readers are actively typing this phrase into the Amazon search bar.

Competition Axis

This represents "Saturation." High competition means the top 20 search results are dominated by bestsellers with 1,000+ reviews.

What is a "Blue Ocean" Keyword?

A Blue Ocean keyword is found in the "Sweet Spot" (Bottom Right). It has enough demand to sustain sales but lacks the heavyweight "sharks" that make ranking impossible for a new author.

When should I target "High Competition" keywords?

Only when you have an aggressive Amazon Ads budget. These keywords are "pay-to-play." If you can't outspend the competition, you won't appear on Page One.

How often should I audit my keywords?

The Amazon algorithm shifts every 30-60 days. We recommend a full heatmap audit for your "Big 7" keywords once a quarter to ensure you aren't fighting in a dying niche.
